Finished

For this unit we had to produce a show reel and portfolio of work. For my show reel i have done five pieces of concept art and one piece showing my thought design technique. First of all my main character. I wanted to make him look like he had been through many battles thats why i gave him a scar on his face and also a mean looking face. Also i didn't continue to do the nazi aspect of the game as it was a sensitive subject. But i still kept the idea of zombie robots, i think i could of done this aspect little more better as the robots parts arnt ecplained very well. For the robot parts on the zombies is the helmet that can make them into drones and be controlled by any one with a remote so effectively making a army of the undead for urself. Also the helmets provide armour for the zombies because one shot in the brain and they are dead. With my design of the characters i thought it would be a good idea to draw out a rought sketch of the character then do a front side and back view of the character in colour, i think this is a good way of showing my thought process. And further more i thought that drawing seperate designs for clothing for main charcter on the same production line method is also a good idea and shows how im thinking. With my zombie design i chose to make them green coloured skin to make them look more comical and show that they have been dead for a while, abit like a mouldy sandwich.
For this unit i mostly used photoshop, when i first started using photoshop i wasn't really sure of what i was doing with it. And most of the time becoming frustrated with what i was doing and not really producing to a good stantard. But after a week of constantly testing things with photoshop by trying different tools i began to become more confident with the program. The one thing i most like about photoshop is how you can create your own style with it, i like to try and make my drawings look more like paintings to make them look more artistic. I think i have become more comfortable drawing with photoshop and intend on using it more in the future.
Some things i would like to learn in the future about photoshop is, to have a better understanding about lighting in a painting because most of my drwaings seem to be very dark and i would like to find out how to add more depth to a drawing. Also how to plan and then draw a scene, by this i mean like a battle or two characters fighting. And the last thing is level design i find this to be my weaker aspect of my work, and find if i knew how to do this it would give me more to put in a portfoilio and bigger diversity.
The one thing i am dissapointed about is not knowing how to really use maya, but over the summer break i intend on learning how to use the program correctly from one of my friends who is a bit of a whizz at the thing and in return i will show him how to use photoshop. Also i want to learn how to put things into the unreal engine and learn how to use steam engine aswell, as it has been somthing i wanted to do for a long time.
